Overview

The founder and leader of the Horde's branch of the Champions of Azeroth.

Formerly the first mate-turned-captain of a Kul Tiran pirate crew, an act of betrayal sent Mumkhar into the jaws of undeath. When he found himself freed of the Lich King's will, his pirate's code put him on a new life of loyalty to his new crew, the Forsaken, and the Horde.

Now once again captaining a new crew in his new life, Mumkhar's code of loyalty is tested constantly. Only one thing remains consistent, and that is that the pirate's blades are something nobody wants to be on the receiving end of.

Personality

• Mumkhar values loyalty above all else. If someone does right by you, you pay them back. This is his pirate's code, and what he lives his entire (un)life on. Naturally, betrayal is the worst crime of all in his eyes. He is very rigid in this thinking, which often leads him and others around him into difficult situations. He cannot break a debt, even if the one holding it has bad motives. He takes it very personally if he sees someone else breaking a debt, as well.
• Mumkhar is very bitter and bad-tempered. It's very easy to hit his sore spots, which he hangs onto; he will make sure that you feel his rage equal to the crime. Yet, despite his incredibly harsh exterior, deep inside Mumkhar is a want for connection. He'd never admit it, or perhaps he doesn't even truly realize it himself, but all he wants is a crew again.
• His leadership is top-notch. He's willing to take charge and be decisive when it's required. He ensures to pay attention to the capability of anyone under his command; his perception has been refined to be sharp and unforgiving to account for any weaknesses.

Story

• An orphan of Kul Tiras, Mumkhar grew up stealing to survive on the streets. One small heist of his led to him hiding in a chest, and being hauled onto a ship full of pirates. He would be accepted into the crew, pulling his weight and respecting his captain who gave him a little more stability for his life. This crew became his family; he saw the captain as his father, and he would do anything for them. After years on the sea, Mumkhar became the first mate of the crew, the right hand man of his captain. When the captain passed of illness, Mumkhar naturally took over his position, leading a tight ship with a loyal crew his adoptive father would be proud of. During a ship raiding, a bitter, jealous crew member had found notes and news of what was happening on the mainland- the undead ravaging Lordaeron. Seeing an opportunity to oust this upstart of his position (as well as to keep all the loot), he had forged false news of an easy score, which Mumkhar had trusted. As Mumkhar led his crew into what seemed to be a ruined seaside village (said to be the victim of a rogue Horde war party), they instead found themselves under assault by a mass of Scourge. Worse, when they attempted to retreat, Mumkhar saw nothing but his ship leaving port. Rage of this betrayal burned in his soul, as him and his final loyal crew members were consumed by the undead, and joined the Scourge as mindless drones.
• Classic - Mumkhar would eventually find himself freed from the control of the Lich King by Sylvanas. This action alone would define his undeath - the Dark Lady saved him from the clutches of the Scourge, he would pledge himself to the Forsaken, to the Horde for taking them in. But before he could fully devote himself to his new crew, his soul desired vengeance. He would travel Azeroth, questing and killing whereever he went, all in hopes for getting information on the crew member that left them to die. Unfortunately, he never found anything, so he would continue to be a force for the Horde until that day came.
• Wrath of the Lich King - Mumkhar traveled to Northrend to, like all Forsaken, take down the Scourge once and for all. He would assist in the attacks against Azjol-Nerub and Naxxramas, as well as the battle of the Wrathgate, where he would witness the betrayal of Putress and his allies. Mumkhar would naturally assist in taking back the Undercity from these traitors, killing Varimathras. Mumkhar would also be present for the attack on the Halls of Lightning, the Argent Tournament, and finally, the assault against Arthas, where he would participate in the Lich King's death. With the Scourge defeated, and a declaration of war from the Alliance made at the Undercity, Mumkhar prepared to join Horde forces whereever needed.
• Cataclysm - Mumkhar helped his Lady invade Gilneas for the Forsaken. During the campaign in Silverpine, he met a newly resurrected Forsaken woman who used a strange fighting/healing style. The two fought together for a while, killing Lord Godfrey in Shadowfang Keep, but she would depart on her own journey in Hillsbrad. Mumkhar would be called to Orgrimmar to sail out to Vashj'ir, where he would meet and fight alongside a goblin woman. He and this warlock, Bozatrox, fought against the rogue elements and the Twilight's Hammer. Realizing how much of a problem Deathwing and his doomsday cult was, they traveled to the Twilight Highlands, where they met up with the Forsaken woman Mumkhar met in Silverpine Forest; Anguilla, and her traveling partner, the troll mage Zinju. The four teamed up, fighting against the Twilight's Hammer, eventually assaulting the Bastion of Twilight, and killing Cho'gall along with other Horde adventurers. The party of four continued to help the Horde fight back against the end of the world, together. Mumkhar would be reached out to by the red dragonflight, who noticed his abilities at the Twilight Highlands, to retrieve a stolen egg. He would find himself wrapped in Wrathion's quest to take down the remaining corrupted Black Dragons and forge the Fangs of the Father. He did this for the good of the world (and some cool loot), but hated the lack of respect the young dragon had. Mumkhar and his new group were sent forward in time by Nozdormu to defeat Murozond; opening the path to the Dragon Soul, which some other group of adventurers took over. The Horde party lent their blades and magic to defending Wyrmrest Temple, where ultimately, Mumkhar would be present for Deathwing's defeat. He would take a fragment of Deathwing's jaw to finish his new daggers, and told Wrathion that he better not see him again. Mumkhar, noticing the potential, the efficiency, of his new comrades, gathered them together and suggested that they form an official guild- Mumkhar had a crew once again.
• Legion - Mumkhar's feats got him a place on the Uncrowned, where he would obtain the Dreadblades, the Kingslayers, and the Fangs of the Devourer; ultimately unveiling a conspiracy inside the Alliance, and taking out Detheroc.
• Battle for Azeroth - As the Horde continued to fracture between those loyal to Sylvanas and those who doubted her, Mumkhar doubled down on his loyalty to the Dark Lady. Between this, and the personal betrayal of Guanglai, he became very paranoid, very irritable, as it seemed his crew had no respect for their captain, their warchief. The group would split, Mumkhar ready to take the heads of more traitors, until the fateful mak'gora where Sylvanas killed Saurfang, and threw away the Horde entirely. This event broke Mumkhar- how could his Lady do this? How could his Lady reward his loyalty to the Horde, to the Forsaken, by calling him nothing? The Horde guild, his crew, tried their best to support him. His rage inside would remain, but it would find itself aimed elsewhere.

Relationships

• Bozatrox - She is his right hand in guild leadership. He admires the way she organizes her business greatly. Together, their tactical prowess is unmatched.
• Anguilla - He doesn't outwardly seem to put much stock in Anguilla's connection to the mind and spirit, but does respect her skills. Mumkhar's view towards her became very strained during the Fourth War, when it seemed like she was doubting the Dark Lady, but after Sylvanas threw away the Horde, Anguilla helps Mumkhar cope with his entire world being shaken.
• Zinju - He wishes she would be more confident, and is often annoyed at her wishy-washy nature. He sees how capable the mage is.
• Guanglai - Mumkhar hated Guanglai after his defection from the Horde, and wanted his head. Nowadays, Mumkhar is learning to respect what Guanglai stands for, and how he always had the crew in his mind. It's difficult, it's rocky, but it's not coming to violence, at least.
• Winstant - His Alliance counterpart, and mortal enemy. The two have fought often in the history of Azeroth. He finds Winstant loud, selfish, and incredibly irritating. While he went along with the unification of the guilds for his crew and his faction, he doesn't have to LIKE anyone on the Alliance, especially that damned lion.

• His favorite food is hardtack.

Author's Notes

• Named after Mumkhar from Xenoblade Chronicles. His jaw is taken from his namesake's metal body. He used to have more similarities in my mind, but I found it too restricting and couldn't fit it into the existing lore, so I got rid of that. However, my internal voice for him will always be OG Mumkhar.
