Overview

One of the original members of the Horde's guild.

Once a bubbly girl living a perfect life helping her parents deliver across Lordaeron, Anguilla would find her life come to a tragic end by the Cult of the Damned, as her home kingdom fell to the Undead Plague. Years later, she would find herself returned to this scourged land, now broken by the Cataclysm- and her own emotions were just as ravaged. Through a chance encounter with a wandering Pandaren monk, she learned how to healthily deal with her new reality and life, where her goal became to help others do the same.

She may not be the same ray of sunshine as she was in life, but her mission to bring peace and tranquility to Azeroth shows that she's still the same person inside.

Personality

• In life, Anguilla was very bright and cheerful. She was social and empathetic, loving to help her family and any others she came across. In death, Anguilla's emotions are nowhere near as bright as they once were, and she finds displaying them exhausting. However, she is still the same person with the same moral compass, so she does still have that drive to help others, despite what others may see.
• Her monk training allowed her to make peace with the dissonance and trauma she felt inside of how different her new life is from her old. She considers it her life's goal to help others with the same thing, which also tends to turn into assissting others with any kind of mental struggle. She's basically the therapist of the guild/Azeroth as a whole.
• On her revival, she stressed often about what she should be doing and feeling vs. what was actually inside her. Logically, her death, her lack of emotions, the part she and her family had, although unwittingly, in spreading the plague; all these things were rightfully something to freak out about and act on. She eventually learned to harness her morals and logic into real, meaningful action, instead of focusing on what should be there or how to do it "properly".
• As an example, what could be torment over delivering the plagued grain, is instead being mindful of details that could reveal misleading or manipulation, to where she can actually take action.

Story

• Anguilla's family ran a delivery business in Andorhal, the center of agricultural distribution in Lordaeron. While food and farm product was their primary focus, they also helped with other packages if people needed help between cities. With this, Anguilla grew up traveling a lot, and beloved by many, being the only child of everyone's beloved Haymonds. All things considered, her life growing up was very normal, very sunny. She was a beacon of joy anywhere she went, she helped her parents out, made friends all across Lordaeron, developed silly crushes; all sense of conflict was right outside her bubble. Eventually, Anguilla would start making deliveries by herself; expanding her family's business. Unfortunately, this would be around the time that the Cult of the Damned infected Lordaeron's grain with the Plague. Grain that the Haymonds would help bring to other towns. On one of Anguilla's solo deliveries, she would tragically find herself right in the trap of a member of the Cult of the Damned. The necromancer took her life, as he had done with a few others. The only grace of the Light was that he would be killed before anything could be done to her body. The group of knights buried and blessed her and the other bodies found as well as they could. Her parents would succumb to the Plague of Undeath, joining the ranks of the Scourge, and Lordaeron fell.
• Cataclysm - Anguilla's body was eventually dug up and brought to Deathknell, where she was revived by the Val'kyr. Unlike most Forsaken, who usually react very shocked and outwardly traumatized to their return to life, as Anguilla was returned, she seemingly looked calm. She recieved the usual speech that all Forsaken got, but didn't pay much attention to it as she found her way into the town and in a room. Despite how it looked like she handled everything smoothly, inside Anguilla was in distress. By all accounts, she should be freaking out and breaking down, but instead her emotions felt... broken. Her life became a blur; occasionally helping when asked, but mainly full of being stuck in her own head, depressed. Eventually, one day, on an aimless walk into Tirisfal, she ran into a strange creature she'd never seen or heard of before- a Pandaren. They were a traveling monk who, noticing something was on her mind, talked to Anguilla. The conversation struck something in Anguilla's heart, and she asked if she could continue to meet with the monk. She would come by every day, listening, reflecting, and even training in the martial arts. She learned many skills, both physical and mental, and managed to break out of her depression. She felt strong enough to go out into the world- continuing her training in travel form, and giving into her "rpg protagonist syndrome" of helping others. She even got to travel to the Undercity, and in a chance encounter, reunite with her parents, who had become Forsaken during the Third War. During her travels outside of Tirisfal, she met another Forsaken man in Silverpine Forest who seemed to have been an adventurer for a few years. She traveled through Hillsbrad, the Hinterlands, and the Plaguelands; in the Eastern Plaguelands, while assisting Fiona's caravan, they met a troll mage heading for Silvermoon. Anguilla decided to join her.
• Mists of Pandaria - Meeting other Pandaren and traveling to their homeland really helped her get further in touch with her abilities. She gained much wisdom from the people of Pandaria and their writings, even traveling to the Peak of Serenity. This was extremely useful, as the tension between the Horde and Alliance heated up, and the Sha arose once again, her mindset was critical to the group's survival.
• Legion - After the Battle of Broken Shore, Anguilla was called back to the Peak of Serenity, where she would help fight against the Legion's invasion; ultimately being chosen as the Grandmaster of the new Order of the Broken Temple. She would help obtain the artifacts Fu Zan, Sheilun, and the Fists of the Heavens, but she would only wield Sheilun, and entrusted the other two to worthy monks.
• Battle for Azeroth - The fracturing of their group with Guanglai's departure, as well as the greater fractioning of the Horde brought a lot of tension that Anguilla tried her best to manage. She became very suspicious of Sylvanas's motives, yet had to navigate under Mumkhar's loyalty to the Banshee Queen. Ultimately, after Sylvanas's betrayal and Saurfang's death, her ability to reunite the group eased.

Relationships

• Zinju - Helps her be more comfortable in her own skin. They've traveled together longer than anyone else in the group, so they are very comfortable around each other.
• Mumkhar - Doesn't see him as the scary, intimidating force he presents as. She tries to be his connection to being more compassionate, especially after Sylvanas's betrayal of the Horde, which really did a number to him.
• Guanglai - Completely understood his decision to leave the Horde, and quietly respected it (though it did bring some irritation that it made her job in the guild harder for a while). She was one of the first to extend an olive branch in his direction after the Fourth War, and a slow bridge for the rest of the group.
• Sakasa - Soothed the pain from her injury. Knows that her struggles are great, and tries her best to reach out, but the lack of words really tests her abilities.
• Jalhalla - Finds him... unsettling. She can appreciate how he seems to be living his best life, but the way he treats death isn't really like anything she's ever seen.

Other

• She and Lilian Voss look... nearly identical, for some reason? They aren't related, but people often think they're sisters due to their appearances/high importance.
• Her parents refer to her as "Angie". Speaking of, their names are Finn and Bridgette. She was named after her great-grandmother.
• Unfortunately, despite her monk training, she isn't super strong due to her undead body and small frame. She tends to put more of her focus on her healing, which she prefers anyways.

Author's Notes

• Her name inspiration is Anguilla, one of the 12 Deadlords from Fire Emblem: Geneaology of the Holy War/Awakening. There is no similarity beyond the fact that they are both undead.
• Anguilla is the oldest character on my current account. Sadly, she has fallen to the wayside as the years go on, but she'll always hold a spot in my heart for how long I've had her.
